I always like to check out new blogs on The Mom Blogs. Today, I came across a new blog that I fell in love with instantly.

CheepChix has some great money saving tips and a great recipe for making your own laundry soap. I will be sure to try this recipe out myself very soon!

Buttermilk Dill Dressing

014
Yesterday I was having a craving for salad with Buttermilk Dressing. After searching the internet for a homemade recipe that looked appealing I decided to whip something together myself.
I used
1 cup Mayonnaise
3/4 cup Buttermilk
1/2 cup Sour Cream
1/2 cup Fresh Chopped Dill
2 tbs Vinegar (more or less depending on your taste)
3/4 tsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Paprika
I also added Sea Salt and Black Pepper to taste but I did not measure those amounts.
I think that I have found my new favorite dressing! I’m glad that I have more of the ingredients on hand because between my husband and I there won’t be any left soon!

Working my way back

I’ve been a really bad blogger. And if the word unpacker was in fact, a word, I would be a very bad one of those too. I have not unpacked my sewing or office things yet. Bad, bad, bad. My goal for this weekend is to have it all unpacked and ready to go. And the first project I will be making surpasses any and all projects I was working on. I need curtains as the ones that I had for my living room don’t fit our new picture window. Trying to decide on a pattern is a project in itself so tomorrow I will be bringing myself to the fabric store and see if anything inspires me. I’m excited to get back to business!

Quiet on the home front

I realize things have been super quiet over here, and I’m afraid it’s going to stay that way for just a little longer. It’s moving week! We finally found a duplex that we both liked and we’ll be moving in this weekend.

I am going to dearly miss my enormous upstairs bathroom complete with claw foot but, and the full bath on the first floor. Our new place has 2 baths but one is a half bath on the first floor. But, having no nosey neighbors, landlords that live a few hours away and a HUGE yard certainly makes up for it. On top of that our landlords have given us the go ahead to do anything we like with the outside. We share an acre lot with the people in the abutting duplex and that gives each of us plenty of room without feeling like either of us are in each other’s way. I will no longer have to worry about the neighbors dog digging up my newly planted garden or Jocelyn getting dirty in their dogs mess.

First project of the summer: Patio. Adam is pretty excited about that!

So, I may check in before next week, if not things should be getting back to normal at the beginning of next week after we move and are all settled in. I’m still waiting on the walking foot to arrive too.

What a great start!

So it’s Sunday night and guess where the “item of the week” is? Well, nowhere. The walking foot that I ordered for my machine evidently was the wrong one and I can’t quilt this project without it. That’s what I get for buying a universal product.  I have ordered the correct walking foot straight from Brother and it should be arriving sometime this week. I do, however, think this foot may fit on the Kenmore but I haven’t tried to install it. In fact, I haven’t done much of anything with the Kenmore yet. It needs a good cleaning and to be oiled.

On a happier note, I had a great weekend with my husband and daughter. The little Lady Bug has a new favorite hobby of shoveling dirt from the yard and dumping it in  the grass or sidewalk. Jocelyn and I planted Pumpkin, Sunflowers, Watermelon’s and Snap dragons for Jocelyn, and Dill, Onions, Red Sunflowers and Hydrangea for me. And since we are moving in two weeks there won’t be any dogs around to dig up our gardens this year! That’s something I look forward to!

Sassy needs a home!

Today while I was researching companies for our business cards, it dawned on me that I should get a domain name secured. I wasn’t prepared for how many sites there are to choose from, and I couldn’t tell a better site from another if my life depended on it. I was all set to go with a well known domain hosting site but decided to check out some consumer reviews from them first. Boy, am I glad that I did. Too many customers claiming fraud and whether that is true or not it’s enough to having this sewing mama say no, thank you!

We have art!

A big thank you to Alicia at Dreamlike Magic for creating the amazing graphics for my Etsy Shop and business cards. They rock!

On another note, I am just bursting with excitement over a great find at a tag sale today. More of a treasure really, but that could be just my own opinion. I was able to pick up this little beauty today, in working condition, amidst an array of other goodies thrown in. All for ten bucks!

I’m in love with vintage machines. I always wonder what others before me have created with them and if those creations are still around.

To end the night I am going to tinker around with a new pattern I’m working on. Ok, maybe I’ll tinker with the new machine too!
